Reader Roundup

Of course noting to myself this morning that I hadn’t been up on my reading has caused no small part of my morning to be derailed by, you guessed it, reading. Some of the best:

San Francisco: No One Will Tell You When You Have a Bad Idea. [via]

Defacing Refacing Government Tender (What you are doing is illegal!) [via]

Dear Shaun:  ”Your $x (whatever your reason for it) is not some fragile vase that is going to shatter the second you $y. It is as strong as you decide it is, and the boundaries are where you set them.” A note on keepin’ on keepin’ on. Bluish Orange was amongst the first blogs I ever read, and some of the best personal writing I’ve ever come across online.

Be kind, for everyone you know is fighting a hard battle. If only this were as easy to practice as it was to capture on a PostSecret.

Elixir’s Cocktail Club: 80% or more of my alcoholic beverages these days are beers, and of the remaining 20% probably 9 of 10 are wine. I also fear Elixir because of the absinthe blackout I had last time I was there. But, here are good learning opportunities to become master of a domain, if that’s your bag. [via]

Finding Affordable Insurance When You’re Own Your Own: Again, this is something that could have been brought to my attention yesterday.

The London Bridge on Twitter. Also: The SF Giants, Oakland A’s, LA Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks, providing pregame, postgame, and in-game updates. See? Twitter can be used for almost anything, so stop freaking out about “what it does.”

iPhone hack: Scan your membership cards, import the pictures into your phone, barcode images are scannable (at least in test run). Unfortunately, the only membership card I really use at present is Safeway, and I have a seven year old phone number for that, rather than a card. Also, apparently iPhone users get free access at AT&T hotspots

Finally, even if it’s just for entering a contest, I was mentioned on Anil’s blog in a roundup of Ctrl-V, and that makes me happy. I know where that game started.  [tag: internet famous]

On-demand baseball updates at twitter.com/madstatter as well. All teams covered, not just the west coast trendsetters.
